Grande Cache Recreation Centre
This redevelopment of the existing Grande Cache recreational facility includes the modernization of the existing facility and major expansion. The modernizations include retail areas, expanded fitness and wellness area, program rooms, daycare facility, child minding rooms, community facilities. The expansion includes a new leisure wave pool, 25 m lane pool, tots pool, lazy river, water slide, whirl pool, steam and sauna rooms, change rooms and new town offices, council chambers, and FCSS components. The addition of many new components and spaces within the context of the existing building framework required that there be a ‘Social Heart’ that would tie the various components together and act as an organizing element. Several green building strategies were implemented such as a waste heat recovery system.
